ExpressDetect® Diagnostics
ExpressDetect® DiagnosticsECI has developed a novel means of identifying the presence of bacteria and other pathogens. This patent-pending approach is based upon detecting secretions that are specific to each pathogen. ECI has been able to engineer assays that change color in the presence of these host specific secretions.ECI's detectors can be applied to virtually any surface, incorporated into medical devices, or simply can serve as point of care diagnostic tools. The detectors are anticipated to have a very nominal raw material cost. No capital equipment or laboratory workup is necessary— a simple, visible color change on the site of application performs the diagnostic function. ECI has developed detectors for specific bacteria as well as produced a 'broad spectrum' detector that will signal the presence of one or more pathogens.
