Mitchell Sanders, Ph.D.
CEO and Founder
Dr. Sanders founded ECI in 1998. Dr. Sanders is a leader in the field of protein engineering, purification and diagnostic sensor development. Dr. Sanders worked as a Senior Scientist II at Genome Therapeutics in the Pathogen Genetics Program. He holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and completed postdoctoral training at the Whitehead Institute at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Dr. Sanders has dual assistant research professor appointments in the Bioengineering Institute and the Biology and Biotechnology Departments at WPI. He serves on numerous scientific and entrepreneurial boards at local universities. For ECI, Dr. Sanders secured an aggregate $20M in equity, corporate development funding, and SBIR grants.

Geert Cauwenbergh, Ph.D.
Executive Chairman
Dr. Cauwenbergh is the Founder of Phase123, a company that is focused on bringing together investigators and sponsors for drug development and clinical studies. Dr. Cauwenbergh was the Founder and CEO of Barrier Therapeutics, acquired in 2008 by Stiefel Laboratories, Inc., the world's largest independent pharmaceutical company specializing in dermatology. Dr. Cauwenbergh has held various executive positions with Johnson and Johnson, has authored over 100 publications and co-authored several books. Dr. Cauwenbergh received his Ph.D. in Medical Sciences from the Catholic University of Leuven, where he completed his Masters and undergraduate work.

David A. Fogel, CPA
CFO
David Fogel possesses over 24 years of senior financial management experience in various capacities for a variety of high technology companies, including GSI Lumonics, Lilliputian Systems, Lernout & Hauspie (now Nuance), and Core-M, Inc. Most recently Mr. Fogel was the CFO of the healthcare IT consulting firm Beacon Partners, and previously was Vice President of Finance and Treasurer at Webgen, Inc. Dave received his B.S. in Marketing from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Cincinnati.

Luis M. Barros, MBA
EVP Corporate Development and Marketing
Mr. Barros has more than 22 years of private and public sector experience as an investor, entrepreneur and manager, in science, technology and economic development, including roles at MA Life Sciences Center, I.C. Sciences Corp's Endovascular Forum and CIDM, Eli Lilly Ventures, Johnson & Johnson (Ethicon, Inc.); and early stage, venture-backed companies entities respectively acquired by TIBCO (NASDAQ (GS):TIBX) and Microsoft (NYSE: MSFT). Mr. Barros has an MBA from MIT's Sloan School of Management and a BBA as a W.E.B. DuBois Scholar from UMASS-Amherst's Isenberg School.
