ECI Biotech Selected to Participate in the
Massachusetts Life Sciences Center Internship Challenge
Paid Summer Internships to Students Interested in Pursuing Careers in Life Sciences
June 14, 2011 - ECI Biotech (ECI), an innovative developer of the patented ExpressDetect® rapid infection sensors that will ultimately transform the way
pathogens are detected in professional and OTC markets, is one of the select life sciences companies in the Commonwealth participating
in the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center ("the Center") Internship Challenge Program. During the summer of 2011, ECI will provide practical experience to four full-time interns as part of its
STEM workforce development program.
ECI has hired four interns from several MA universities and colleges to work at the company this summer. They are: Erik Herold, Boston
University, Candidate for a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering; Daniel Marsden, Northeastern University, Candidate for a B.S. in Biochemistry with a minor in Psychology and Literature; Nhu
Nguyen, Quinsigamond Community College and Biochemistry and Mathematics, Smith College; and Brenden Schauwecker, Quinsigamond Community College, Biotechnology Program. The
purpose of the Internship Challenge is to provide interns with practical, "hands on" experience that will prepare them to step into the workforce ready to meet the job requirements of life sciences
employers. The program, now in its third year, facilitates the placement of students and recent graduates who are considering career opportunities in the life sciences, in paid summer internships
across the Commonwealth.
"ECI has hand-picked very talented individuals in biochemistry and engineering to work at our company this summer. The goal of hiring the interns is to provide them with relevant experience
and to further prepare them as viable candidates for full-time employment at ECI or within the industry," said Dr. Mitchell Sanders, CEO and Founder of ECI Biotech.
