ECI Biotech, Inc. to Participate in WPI Alumni Association Community Service Day
Local Company Gives Back to Community
April 8, 2011 — Committed to setting a standard in
business citizenship and community outreach ECI Biotech, a Worcester-based biotechnology
company, is pleased to announce the company will be participating in the Worcester Polytechnic
Institute (WPI) Alumni Association Community Service Day on Saturday, April 9, 2011.
Many of ECI Biotech employees are WPI Alumni and ECI Biotech is a charter member of WPI's
Biotechnology Engineering Institute. ECI Biotech employees, along with approximately 200
other volunteers, will help with spring clean-up projects and sort goods for several Worcester
human service agencies. Agencies include: Worcester Hope Lodge, Worcester Housing
Authority, The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester, YWCA, Worcester Walk for MS, Salvation
Army, and Elm Park Elementary (overflow site). This is a fantastic opportunity to work together
across the community.
Dr. Mitchell Sanders, the CEO and Founder of ECI Biotech, said, “Given the current economic
climate, we know there are countless non-profits or community projects that are in need of
resources and volunteers. We see this as an opportunity to give back to Worcester, a community
that supports our business and office. We believe that corporate involvement in the community can
really make an impact – and there isn’t a better time to lend a helping hand."
"We are so pleased that ECI Biotech is participating in WPI's Community Service Day as we
bring together students, faculty, staff, and alumni - all working together to give back to the
Worcester Community," said Joyce Kline, WPI class of 1987 and president of the WPI Alumni
Association.
